Seminar Testimonials

Kelly Sargeant
"My expectations were exceeded tremendously.  First and foremost, one of the main reasons it was a true success was the obvious care and desire all the moderators/speakers expressed.  I felt so honored that such successful and busy women took the time to speak to us on how we can all achieve success.  I feel bad for expecting so little from the seminar.   The information provided was by no means "boilerplate" advice.  Many of the tips and advice were so clever and logical.  Additionally, I never expected to gain a new community with whom I could network.  I was amazed by how open the speakers were to helping us with our resumes, interviews, and especially with integrating us into their networking system.  By no means did I expect this would be more than a one time experience, and now I see that it can be an everlasting experience.

What did you enjoy most about the seminar?  The most enjoyable aspect of the seminar was the advice given from all the moderators and hearing about their career journeys.  I now realize and find excitement in the reality that this sports career search is a continuous journey of many turns and falls that if used properly can turn into a plethora of career highs and achievements.

I am in awe about how passionate all the speakers were about advising us.  Even more, I can not believe the extent in which the speakers  were and are there to support and help us in our job search.  I thought this was an amazing experience and will definitely participate next year.  I truly believe that this conference can be beneficial even if you have a secure position established in the sports world.  Thank you for this experience.  I felt so motivated and confident after the seminar."

Thank you for a wonderful seminar!  I have been wanting to break into the sports industry for a few years but never came up with a game plan.  I feel your seminar helped me do that! It was great to network with other women who share the same sports interests & goals!
Thanks again!"

"
You exceeded my expectations by first assessing my skills.  I believe that giving me the opportunity to inform you about where I am now, in terms of my current profession, as well as, what I would like to pursue in the sports industry was very effective.  You quickly classified each participant based on their career experience and objectives to offer practical advice.

Was there something that we did not cover that you would have liked us to cover?  No.  In fact you provided several resources and suggestions that I am anxious to research.

What did you enjoy most about the seminar?
I enjoyed listening to Mary Lou's, Becky's and Cathy's career experiences.
In my opinion, success is an outcome that is earned through trial.  Each of the aforementioned created opportunities for themselves, as well as, for other women seeking careers in the sports industry.  Their personal accounts enforced the importance of self assessment, confidence, determination and networking.  Thank you for providing this forum for women to come together and discuss their career objectives!  Your efforts communicate that a career in sports is attainable!

What I enjoyed most about the seminar was hearing about the failures and successes from the speakers - that the process isn't a smooth ride!  The seminar was uplifting and gave one a sense of direction and confidence!

Hi Becky, Mary Lou and staff,

I've officially joined the staff of the NBA Miami HEAT as Communications Coordinator and I couldn't be happier!
I was just writing to thank you once again for the information provided in your Sports Career Seminar I
participated in last summer. I felt like I was on the right track, but needed a little something extra to give me
the confidence to stick with my goals.
I'm not sure if you remember, but my career background is in military broadcasting and public relations
and I had been working in marketing/pr for a technology company. Well, ironically, 3 days after taking your
seminar, I was laid off from my job (a blessing in disguise) so I moved forward full-steam with my goal to
work for a pro basketball team.
At the start of the season last October, I ended up taking an internship position and a part-time job in another
department just to get my foot in the door with the NBA Miami HEAT. When the Communications Coordinator
position became available, I feel that my presence there while working the internship gave me an inside edge
versus candidates from outside the organization. While this may not be the most conventional way to go about
obtaining my goal, I know it definitely helped.
Thank you again, and feel free to keep me in your rolodex for networking purposes. :)
Sincerely,
Ericka Dudley

Were your seminar expectations met?
I must admit, I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but YES, my expectations were met and exceeded!
I really enjoyed the seminar yesterday!  The information was insightful and I feel like my passion to move
forward with pursuing my dream career is re-ignited!

What did you enjoy most about the seminar?
I enjoyed the flow of the seminar and the fact that we had a small group. It gave the speaker(s)  an opportunity to relate information directly to each of the participant's interests. I don't think anyone was left out, whereas with a larger conference we may not have had this opportunity. I also enjoyed hearing about everyone's backgrounds and interests and most of all the speakers true-life experiences were invaluable.

What did you like most about the teleconference seminar?
"Thank you for creating such a great opportunity to hear candid personal testimonies from sports professionals and their advice on entering the industry job market. Rarely are you given an opportunity during a teleconference to interact with panelists based upon the time and number of participants on the call. I appreciated the interaction with a smaller group and the time provided to answer questions specific to my career interests.

Your seminar was well organized and well thought out. Questions I had were answered before I had an opportunity to ask them!  I appreciated the personalized discussion about my interests, background and your willingness to provide referrals for informational interviews.

Everything was great.  Thanks for such a great seminar. It was well worth it!"

"There was so much great information given out in such a little bit of time...I felt a bit like it was rushed though. However, I completely understand and appreciate that the seminars are short enough so that reasonable length of call times can be made throughout the U.S. I also understand and appreciate the fact that you try to fit in as much information as possible for your attendees to get the most from your seminar.

The entire seminar was excellent. I really enjoyed hearing the stories from the speakers and their life experiences. It's very easy to relate to these "real life" situations. These were very motivating stories.  I also liked the positive energy and motivating tone that exuded from the speakers. All were upbeat, encouraging, and optimistic. These are definite pluses when it comes to eliminating the uncertainties and anxieties involved in making such a significant career change. The "You Can Do It!" attitude is great!

Thank you for presenting a great seminar.  I really enjoy hearing from very strong, successful, and motivating women.  set a great example for all women interested in entering the field of women's sports!

“To be honest I was not sure what to expect, especially with the seminar being via conference
call. I went into it with the idea that I would take a chance and just check it out because I am extremely interested in breaking into the sports marketing field.
It was great to hear the real-life experiences that the speakers had while breaking into the sports field.  Also, I enjoyed hearing
what all of the other participants are currently doing and what they aspire to do in sports.”

Thank you again,
Allison Feldman

“I can't tell you how much I enjoyed this morning's conference. I found the speakers’  input
to be a godsend.  They gave me a renewed confidence in myself, a confidence that I wasn't
even aware that I had lost.  I look forward to more seminars with your WomenSportsJobs.com.”

Thanks again.

“I really enjoyed the seminar yesterday.  What a great way to put on a seminar - informative, inclusive and cost-effective.  I'm Marketing Communications Manager for a non-sports related company in southern California.  In my past, I did a lot of volunteer work when I lived in Atlanta (I was on the Peach Bowl committee one year, Atlanta Hunger Walk, March of Dimes Walk, etc).  You've given me the motivation to get involved again.  Thank you again for hosting
the seminar!”

Sincerely,
Joyce Bane
