The POC base manager oversees all functions of outdoor center including but not limited to campground, counter service restaurant, bar, base activities, routine maintenance, staff, front desk operations, retail, and coordination between two rafting companies assisting the facilitation of daily whitewater rafting trips. Adventure Activity Director - City Kids Wilderness Project

The City Kids Wilderness Project is a nonprofit outdoor adventure program for economically disadvantaged Washington, DC children, aged 10-15. We collaborate with inner-city youth agencies to select eager, enthusiastic, and responsible children. Each session, campers and staff canoe, trail ride, raft, backpack, swim, and visit Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks. Our mission is to inspire young people to see beyond their current circumstances. Through the challenges of outdoor adventure activities, our campers experience significant personal growth. Full-time, Seasonal. All staff participate in and assist with the implementation of a set camping and trip program. Counselors are responsible for a cabin with four campers. The primary responsibilities are to develop a positive, proactive relationship with campers, to act as a role model, to facilitate team and personal growth, and to ensure health and safety. In addition to the activities, counselors spend time with campers developing goals, creating journals, problem solving, and debriefing activities. The staff work as a team directly with the camp director. Responsibilities are shared in accordance with each counselors skills and abilities. Staff have partial and full days off during sessions and three days off between sessions. Located in the Rocky Mountains USA - CO UT WY MT ID. Experience working with children (urban youth) in outdoor settings, trip leading preferred. General to advanced knowledge and abilities in several or all of the following activities: canoeing, swimming, backpacking, kayaking, rock climbing, outdoor education, group dynamics, experiential education, games and initiatives, orienteering, and outdoor living. Personal attributes such as patience, initiative, enthusiasm, proactive communication style, flexibility, and energy a must.
