Event Coordinator - San Jose Arena

This key individual's responsibilities will include scheduling of events, negotiation of contracts, overseeing marketing, ticketing and event coordination. Important skills required for this position are strong business development skills, a mastery of multi-tasking on a grand scale, and budgeting and financial analysis abilities. Important knowledge points for this position include event contracts, technical riders, event production, ticketing, catering and marketing. Duties include coordinating event conversion operations, event communications, memos and checklists, staffing plans, event revenue and cost estimates, final settlements, and profit and loss statements. Also responsible for coordination of operational activities with maintenance, ticketing, food and beverage service, and merchandise sales. Qualified candidates must have five plus years experience in booking and coordinating major events, or similar experience such as working as a talent agent for touring shows, talent buyer, booker, event coordinator, or work in sales or marketing. Computer skills including Microsoft Office are required. Excellent writing and verbal communication, accounting and general office skills are necessary. Candidates must be able to work extended and irregular, non-traditional hours including all events booked.Back to top

The Von Braun Center is located in the Tennessee Valley region of Northern Alabama and has a primary market area of 568,000. The 500,000 sq. ft. complex includes an arena, a concert hall, a playhouse, exhibit space totaling 120,000 sq. ft., and a 23,000 sq. ft. ballroom. The Director of Food and Beverage is a senior level management position reporting to the Executive Director who will oversee the Catering, Concessions and Beverage Departments. Food and Beverage at the VBC is an in-house operation. Responsibilities include planning, scheduling and supervising an effective and profitable food and beverage operation at the VBC. The responsibilities and duties of this position include supervision of food and beverage managers; budgets as they relate to the food and beverage department; inventory control; product development; menu development and other related work as assigned. Successful candidate must have proven administrative and organizational skills. A combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in Food Service Management or a related field with a minimum of five years experience is recommended.
